8HP Controller Transmission Integration Now Available for RM-Primis ECU Owners (As of 27/06/2025)

The RM-Primis ECU now includes native control for ZF 8HP transmissions via CAN-BUS, completely free for all RM-Primis users.

Main Features

  • Full native 8HP control via CAN-BUS — no external modules or controllers required
  • Direct unlock and control of BMW F-Series 8HP transmissions
  • No physical modification required to the TCU or transmission hardware
  • No need for external programmers for F-Series
  • Integration mimics OEM ECU/DME behavior, ensuring OEM-like gearshift logic
  • Diagnostic capabilities included:
  •   – Read/delete DTCs (trouble codes)
  •   – Read TCU firmware version
  •   – Monitor real-time TCU status and operational parameters

Shifter Support

  • Currently supports:
  •   – BMW F-Series electronic shifter
  • Other shifters (e.g., Jaguar rotary, Jeep, or aftermarket paddles):
  •   – Support can be added on request — just contact us with your setup

Compatibility by Transmission/TCU Type

  • Supported Without Flashing (Plug-and-Play)
  • BMW F-Series (e.g. F30, F10, F32, etc.):
  •   – ZF 8HP45, 8HP50, 8HP70 (typical F-Series variants)
  •   – No TCU flashing or external intervention required
  •   – Controlled natively via RM-Primis CAN-BUS
  • BMW G-Series:
  •   – Same physical interface as F-Series
  •   – May require minor tweaks to CAN protocol depending on year/model
  •   – We offer personalized support to make it work in your G-Series build
  • Supported With Firmware Flashing (Free TCU Flash Service Provided)
  • BMW E-Series (e.g. E90, E70, etc.):
  •   – Must flash F-Series compatible firmware to the TCU
  •   – Hardware is usually identical or very similar
  • Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 8HP:
  •   – Example: Charger, Challenger, Ram 1500, Grand Cherokee
  •   – Flashing is required to convert CAN protocol to BMW/F-Series logic
  • Jaguar / Land Rover 8HP:
  •   – TCU must be re-flashed for compatibility
  •   – Contact us for supported part numbers
  • Maserati / Alfa Romeo / Other 8HP Variants:
  •   – Flashing required
  •   – Depends on TCU hardware compatibility with F-Series firmware

Free TCU Flashing Service

  • Ship us the TCU electronics (not the entire transmission)
  • We’ll flash it and return it ready to be used with RM-Primis
  • Turnaround time typically 1–2 business days after arrival
